Medjugorje latest message, 25. October 2017

“Dear children! I am calling you to be prayer in this time of grace. You all have problems, afflictions, sufferings and lack of peace. May saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness; God will be near you and you will be renewed in seeking through your personal conversion. Faith will be hope to you and joy will begin to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Medjugorje apparitions of Our Lady today

On June 24, 1981, at about 6pm, six young parishioners from Medjugorje: Ivanka Ivankovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic, Ivan Dragicevic, Ivan Ivankovic and Milka Pavlovic, saw on the hill Crnica (on the place called Podbrdo) an apparition, a white form with a child in her arms.

Surprised and scared, they did not approach. The next day at the same time, June 25, 1981, four of them, Ivanka Ivankovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic and Ivan Dragicevic, felt strongly drawn towards the place where, the day before, they saw the One who they had recognised as Our Lady.

Marija Pavlovic and Jakov Colo joined them. The group of Medjugorje visionaries was formed.

They prayed with Our Lady and talked to Her. From that day onward, they had daily apparitions, together or separately. Milka Pavlovic and Ivan Ivankovic have never seen Our Lady any more.

Guides and tours in Medugorje:

Prayer Areas

There are three main areas where the pilgrims gather in Medjugorje:

Apparition Hill

Medjugorje

This is how the area of Podbrdo, above the village of Bijakovici is now referred to. This is where the visionaries claim to have first seen Our Lady. This happened at the end of June back in 1981. Since then pilgrims gather there to pray the rosary.

By day and by night, groups can be seen making their way to the place of the first apparition.

Up until 1989, there was nothing to be seen there except boulders and rustic crosses which some of the many visitors had left.

Today, on the ascent, images in cast bronze, (work of the well-known Florentine artist Carmelo Puzzolo) recall the joyful sorrowful and glorious mysteries of the rosary.

Krizevac – Cross Mountain

Medjugorje

Krizevac is the hill above Medjugorje. Here, in 1934, the people of the village of Medjugorje erected an eight-meter high concrete cross in commemoration of the 1900th anniversary of Jesus’ death.

In this place, both groups and individuals of the faithful pay homage in the way of the Cross, praying as they go from station to station. In the first years the stations were marked by wooden crosses.

Since 1988, however, bronze images depicting the various stations have been placed at each cross, again the work of the Italian sculptor Carmelo Puzzolo. Cross Mountain (Krizevac) has become the “Calvary” of the shrine where pilgrims remember the passion of Christ.

The Parish Church

Medjugorje

The Parish Church and surrounding area is the area where the Mass and sacramental life in general is celebrated. The old Parish Church, built at the end of the last century, was destroyed during an earth tremor.

The new Church was completed in 1969. The church as well as the Parish is consecrated to St. James, (the older) apostle and patron of pilgrims. In 1991, twenty new confessionals were added and an outdoor altar was erected for larger gatherings (when weather permits).

Within the Church grounds, there is also a building which houses “the adoration chapel” and seminar rooms for church purposes. There are also two large marquees (which can be joined together to make a larger one) at the disposal of the Parish for various purposes. Overall, the need for “sacral-premises” is ever on the increase.

How to get to Medjugorje

Medjugorje is 25 km southwest of Mostar. You can get there by yellow public bus. It runs about every 45 minutes to an hour.

For foreign travelers, the easiest way to get into Medugorje is to fly into Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina (airport code OMO), which is only 20 km from Medjugorje.

Alternatively, fly into Split, Croatia (airport code SPU), or Dubrovnik, Croatia (airport code DBV). There’s a daily bus from Split/Dubrovnik to Medugorje.

It’s easy to make a day trip from Split by car. Take the A1 motorway in the direction of Dubrovnik to the exit at Vrgorac (as of July 2013, the last motorway exit), and then follow the signs to Međugorje via the Crveni Grm border crossing.

From Dubrovnik, take the coastal D8 road towards Split until the sign for the border town of Metković, or alternatively through Herzegovina: Brgat-Trebinje-Ljubinje-Stolac-Čapljina-Međugorje. Any of these trips should take about 2 hours. Free parking is available next to the Konzum supermarket at the entrance into Međugorje.

The 25th and the 2nd of the Month

It is always a grace to go to Medjugorje any time of the year, but it is a very particular grace to be in Medjugorje when Our Lady gives a message.

Since January 25, 1987, Our Lady has been giving a monthly message to the world on each 25th, through visionary Marija Lunetti, to help lead the world to conversion. This has continued to our present time. For that reason, the 25th of every month pilgrims will have the experience of receiving and meditating on Our Lady’s words while on their pilgrimage. Also on the 2nd of every month, visionary Mirjana Soldo, since August 2, 1987, has an apparition of Our Lady in which she prays with Our Lady for non-believers. Our Lady also gives a message on this day. Mirjana has invited pilgrims to be present for these apparitions each month, and over these past several years great multitudes of people come to be in the presence of Our Lady on this day.

Prayer to the Queen of Peace

Mary, Mother of God and Our Mother, Queen of Peace!
You came to us to lead us to God.
Obtain for us the grace
not only to say:
“Be it done to me according to Your will!”,
but to live it, as You did.
Into Your hands we put our hands,
so that You may lead us to Him
amidst these afflictions and woes.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Medjugorje and especially Apparition Hill are wonderful. You can hear the Rosary all the time around the Church of St, James.
